Italy makes more wine than any other country in the world. If you know about Italian wine, you know the greats — Barolo, Barbaresco, Chianti, Brunello, Vino Nobile, and Taurasi — and the multitude of more drinkable wines that are so common. But what about the rest of Italy? There are gems all over the country that are mostly inexpensive and can be added to your rotation, when you can find them (which is more often than you think if you look out for them). In this class, we will give attention to those regions that are off the beaten path in Italy, and show you some of the native gems that can surprise and delight!
We will taste and review wines like:
- Pecorino from Abruzzo or Marche
- Vermentino from Sardinia
- Refosco from Friuli-Venezia Giulia
- Ciró from Calabri
- And Montefalco Sagrantino from Umbria
If you love Italian wines and want to get to know the lesser-known parts, this class is for you!
Note: This is a Focus Class, which means we will not cover the basics. I recommend that you take one of the overview classes before you take a Focus Class so you are comfortable with the format and ready for the dorky information imparted in this session.
*Important Notice: Once you register you will receive a PURCHASE CONFIRMATION email with a LINK to the class instructions (it has a Wine For Normal People red header). PLEASE check your Spam/Junk box if you do not see it. If you still can’t find it, please Contact Us.
