More about this class
Bordeaux is the largest wine growing area in all of France and it may very well be the best known wine region in the world.
Bordeaux is not all glitz and glamor. Yes, it has some of the most coveted and collectible wines in the world, but the majority of wines are affordable and many are excellent values. This majestic region, which lies along the banks of two major rivers, has been responsible for shaping wine culture and tastes for centuries. But the real secret of Bordeaux is that its strength lies in what all the best regions have in common – excellent land and climate for wine growing, and the proper know-how to do marvelous things.
Once you learn more about Bordeaux, you will realize that it actually has some of the best values in the wine world, it’s incredibly food friendly, and whether cheap or expensive, the delicious wines are unlike any other. In this class we will dive into the wines of Bordeaux, discussing history, the Banks, the communes, and how to get the best wines for your money.
We’ll explore:
- Bordeaux Blanc
- Côtes de Bordeaux
- Right Bank Bordeaux
- Left Bank Bordeaux
- Optional: Sauternes, the famed sweet wine. I will have one to taste but you don’t have to buy it if you don’t prefer sweet wine.
After this class, you should be able to shop comfortably for all these wines and get the best you can for your budget!
This is a focus class. We will NOT review the basics of tasting or give an overview of France. These are more intense classes so I recommend you take an overview class before taking a focus class.
