More about this class

Winemaking likely started in Georgia, spread to the Middle East and Greece and then landed on the Italian peninsula. It was only then that wine was elevated to its highest form. Delicious native grapes, an ideal climate and terroir, and the full integration of wine into Italian culture made wine more than a beverage, it became a cultural icon. Wine was essential enough to Romans that they needed it as they pillaged Europe, so they spread the vine and winemaking throughout all of Europe and thus began winemaking as we know it.

The wines of Italy are more than just Chianti and Barolo, and the choices can be infinitely confusing. In this high level look at this wine production powerhouse, we’ll discuss the areas of quality and value in Italy, how to decipher things on an Italian label, and taste classic reds and whites that will give you confidence about getting great Italian wine. Although we can only scratch the surface of this country where vines grow in every province and nearly every nook and cranny, we’ll explore the whole country but taste (details included in the registration email):

  • Whites from Veneto and from Campania
  • Reds from Piedmont, Tuscany, and Sicily

After this class you’ll have the tools to understand how to read labels, understand regions, and buy wines you like. This class will run for about 2 hours.

*Important Notice: Once you register, you will receive a PURCHASE CONFIRMATION email with a LINK to the class instructions (it has a Wine For Normal People red header) within 48 hours. PLEASE check your Spam/Junk box if you do not see it. Also, whatever email you register with will be where the correspondence goes for the class. Please remember which you are using! If you still can’t find it, please Contact Us.
